Volunteering

Volunteering
(Above) Volunteers get to to do all kinds of things! Above are some members of the Rotary Club of Scunthorpe who kindly gave their time and energy to help with our Garden Party by arranging and running a plant stall and the main raffle. We are truly grateful to all Rotarians who help the hospice.

Volunteers play a vital role at the Hospice, giving their time and skills to support the work we do. Without this commitment it would be very difficult to provide the range of care and services offered at Lindsey Lodge. Many jobs are undertaken by over 300 voluntary staff and helpers.

The Hospice’s Council of Management is responsible for the governance of the Hospice and its members are all Volunteers. All our Chaplains are volunteers and so are our drivers who transport patients between home and the Hospice.

Volunteers help the nursing staff by providing refreshments for patients and families or sitting with patients. All our receptionists are volunteers and some of our administration and financial work is carried out by voluntary staff.

Volunteers are also involved with fundraising activities such as organising activities as part of our supporter groups, arranging their own fundraising, helping in our charity shops and in the snack bar at the Magistrate's Court in Scunthorpe.

We currently need volunteers for the following activities:

* Driving day-care patients to and from the hospice to their home
* Providing complementary therapies for patients
* Helping in the hospice garden
* Greeting people on one of the two hospice receptions
* Making drinks and chatting to patients
* Serving in one of our hospice shops
* Helping in the backroom of our hospice shops by sorting and preparing donated stock for re-sale
* Rustling up tasty nibbles at our snack bar in Scunthorpe Magistrates Court (if you hold a current food hygeine certificate or are willing to be trained).
